AN EDUCATIONAL COMPETITION FOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS: BRINGING YOUNG PEOPLE CLOSER TO THE SEA

For the 2022-2023 school year, the Oceanographic Institute is launching an educational competition aimed at secondary schools in France, Monaco and other French-speaking countries, designed to forge a strong link between young people and the sea, by helping classes to discover the marine world and implement a project to protect the Ocean.

The project’s ambition is to make the ocean a common good accessible to all. The educational support offered by the Oceanographic Institute aims to:

– discover marine biodiversity;
– understanding the role of the ocean in climate regulation;
– analyze the impact of human activities on the ocean;
– raise awareness and encourage action in favor of the Ocean.

For elementary school, the Animation department works in partnership with the Direction des Services Départementaux de l’Académie de Nice (DSDEN / mission “sciences”) and collaborates closely with the Centre de Formation Pédagogique of the Direction de l’Éducation Nationale et de la Jeunesse et des Sports (DENJS) in Monaco.

A special opportunity to make students aware of the need to preserve the ocean

Since 2014, 1,800 students from the Priority Education Network (REP and REP+), Localized Units for School Inclusion (ULIS) and Adaptation and Integration School (AIS) have been able to take part in our great competition around the marine world.

This educational and social mechanism contributes to the emergence and development of ecological awareness among young people.
