OCEAN FOR ALL CONTEST : BRINGING YOUTH CLOSER TO THE SEA

The Oceanographic Institute, Albert I Prince of Monaco Foundation, in collaboration with the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, has been involved in educating the public about the ocean for over 100 years and is organising the 10th “Oceano for All” educational contest for the 2023-2024 school year.
The aim of the contest is to help teachers and their classes to discover and understand the Ocean, and to create a societal and collective project to protect it in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals 13 and 14 (SDGs).
Aware of the new way in which young people look at the environment and their growing desire to take action to protect it, the Oceanographic Institute is working to support and accompany these new generations and help them to better understand how to act in the face of today’s challenges.
To help them manage and develop their project, teachers and students will be able to benefit from the support of an educational team specialising in scientific and cultural mediation, and take part in virtual workshops on the main marine themes.
In order to enhance the reflections and actions they have implemented throughout the contest, the registered classes will produce a video report and a document that presents the project and its ecological and societal impact.
The classes that will carry the most impacting projects from a human and environmental point of view will be awarded:
- Prize « Oceano for All » – Category « France and Monaco – 1100 Km of the Museum » : two days stay in Monaco with the award ceremony in the Oceanographic Museum
- Prize « Oceano for All » – Category « France and Monaco + 1100 Km of the Museum » : endowment up to 5000 euros for the organization of activities to raise awareness about the Ocean Award ceremony with the class, in the presence of representatives of the Monaco Oceanographic Museum Institute team
- Two Prizes « Oceano for All » – Category « Coup de Coeur » prizes awarded thanks to the support of the Association of Friends of the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco
- Prize « Oceano for All » thank-you prize awarded to all participating classes
With the aim of inspiring and encouraging other young people to take action for the Ocean, all the reports from the participating classes will be promoted and distributed via the Institute’s networks and its partners.
This project is sponsored by the Total Energies Foundation and the Rotschild & Co. for Generations Foundation.
